Bank Sloths, RDR2, and the Java Pivot
Day 7: Slow Banks, RDR2, and the Automation Rabbit Hole
Today, the seventh day of my blogging journey, got off to an interesting start. I was awakened well before my alarm at 6:30 AM, shaken by a particularly bad dream. Still processing the lingering anxiety, my father sent me out right away to buy milk for our morning tea. I returned home quickly, my mind still preoccupied.
The Sloth-Paced Bank Run
After a quick refresh, my mom and I headed to the bank. My role was to assist her with some paperwork, and thankfully, the tasks themselves went smoothly. The only catch? The employees. It seems during peak hours, bank workers operate at the pace of a sloth in a rush hour traffic jam.
Perhaps it’s the complex systems they process, or the sheer concentration required for handling money, but the sheer slowness was exhausting. We finally got home right around lunchtime, feeling thoroughly drained.
Mutton, RDR2, and the Search for Focus
As we arrived, no lunch was ready, so I immediately went out to buy mutton. While my mother began preparing the meal, I decided to steal some time for myself and jumped into my favorite escape: Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). It was a nice break. Eventually, the food was ready, I closed the game, and had my last meal of the day.
The Inconsistency Check and Java Pivot
After a quick break to help my siblings with their homework, I kicked off my main skill development session. With the evolution of AI and the fierce competition in the Indian job market, I know I need to catch up and adapt. My focus right now is on learning the fundamentals of Java and understanding the core concepts of Software Engineering.
It was during this focused session that I realized my most significant problem: inconsistency. I have a terrible habit of dropping a learning topic halfway through and shifting my focus before truly mastering the first thing.
This has to change. My new goal is to train my focus, commit to one task, and see it through to completion. Right now, that means sticking with this Java tutorial until the end.
